In the world of Beaujolais there are three levels of quality -- the
bottom level are wines that simply carry the designation "Beaujolais."
The next level up are those wines labeled "Beaujolais Villages."
The top level is Domaine/Estate Bottled Beaujolais Villages -- denoting
that the wine is not only Château grown and bottled but is also from
a superior vineyard at a high elevation.
Abarbanel/Château de la Salle Beaujolais Villages meets these criteria. For more than 300 years now
the Roye family has been cultivating some of France's best Gamay (the
grapes Beaujolais wines are made from) grapes and with the utmost tender
loving care transforming them into exceptional wines.
With each succeeding vintage, our Beaujolais Villages has won heaps of awards and praise. The 2009 vintage makes its debut for Passover 2010. The 2009 vintage is Non-Mevushal and as with every vintage is made from very old vines – in fact the vines at Château de la Salle are 100 years-old on average (the best wines come from older vines) and has the lightness and berry sweetness you’d expect from this type of wine.
The 2009 Beaujolais Villages has intriguing notes of blackberries, raspberries and tobacco along with banana on the finish. This is a fun quaffing wine that can be chilled for an hour prior to drinking. America’s most honored kosher Beaujolais Villages. Drink now.
Pair this with sweet and sour
chicken, BBQ chicken, hamburgers with lettuce, tomatoes and onions with
some mayo on the top bun and ketchup on the bottom bun -- also good
for kiddush by itself and with saucy French cuisine -- good with pasta
too (but lighter sauces).

Light-to medium-bodied, fresh and round, with black cherry, grape and spicy aromas and flavors that sit nicely on the palate. A fine quaffing wine, perhaps best served lightly chilled. Abarbanel Beaujolais Villages, Château de la Salle, Vieilles Vignes, 2002 “A simple but remarkably quaffable Beaujolais, fresh and refreshing, with an appealing cherry-red color matched by cherry-berry fruits. Nothing at all
complex here but a fun match to pizzas, burgers and chicken salad. Drink up.” (Tasted 22 Sep, 2004)

"Sweet strawberry and red cherry flavors, with
a dash of spice on the finish. Drink now."
Wine Spectator September 15, 2001
"Made, as are all of the wines in this area from Gamay grapes,
the wine is light ruby red in color and so light in body that you might
think it was going to float away. Despite that, lively, fruity and easy
to drink, especially when served lightly chilled."
